Our first charity game of the season is in aid of SicKids and is to be on the 23rd November 2019, our fixture against Otley.
SicKids is a charity close to the heart of our Doctor, Jimmy Suart. In a nutshell, it’s primary goal is to relieve sickness and preserve health among children and young people in the North West of England and South East Asia. They do this by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities, support services and equipment not normally provided by local authorities.
They also promote research in all aspects of safeguarding vulnerable children and children’s emergency medicine. They aim to empower communities to support children to have every chance of happiness, good health and protection from harm. They were founded as a result of Professor Andrew Rowland’s trip to Cambodia in 2014. Following his trip, he wrote ‘Living On A Railway Line: Turning the tide of child abuse & exploitation in the UK & overseas’, which was highly acclaimed.
