The Legends took on the mighty 3rds & 4ths on the 29th Dec and came out victorious in a game played in front of a big crowd of all ages and sections of the club including EBBC, Claret & Gold and Mini and Juniors.
A hard-fought victory came with its cost. Rob Smith left the pitch late with a fractured shoulder, but undeterred vowed to be back next year. The Highlight of the game was Paul Egan’s 30 yard try which involved 2 side steps and dummy and blistering pace to take him over in the top corner (this description came from Paul Egan and may differ from that seen by the crowd and on various videos!!)
The Legends would like to extend their gratitude to the 3rds and 4ths for the commitment that they continue to show in supporting this game. Over 40 players turned out for the 3rd/4ths, which is a massive positive for the whole club.
The after-match activities were taken by the 3rds/4ths winning the bar games for the first time. We said goodbye to Owen Martin, who is emigrating to NZ with his family. Everyone involved wished him and his family all the best. Owen has given so much to the club turning out for any team that required his services, and always passing on support for the younger players. Good luck Owen.
The game raised over £3000 for Lansbury Bridge School for children. This worthy cause, supported by Paul Arnold whose son attends the school, managed to put together the legends team and get some marvellous auction and raffle prizes. Well done to everyone who contributed to this fantastic cause.
It was a brilliant day please try a support the game next year its free entry and it’s a great day out for all ages.
Well done Sedgley Park proving once again it is a proud, family club.
