Please find the at a glance fixtures for the new season for 2017-18. No new first visitors to Park Lane this season but some old friends return.
In what will be another very tough league campaign, Sedge face the ‘pundits’ favourites for the league title, Sale in the second game, and first home game of the season as this game is finally recognised as the official local derby.
It is slim pickings for the Sedgley faithful looking for league rugby during December as we go nearly 4 weeks without a home game from the 9th of December’s home game against Lions until the 6th of January’s home game against South Leicester.
The Christmas game is away to Sale at Heywood Road.
The two relegated sides from National One are old friends and near neighbours Macclesfield Blues and Blaydon who we have not met for 4 season when we were both last in National One.
A belated congratulations to the next two clubs as Huddersfield stormed back to National Two North as very worthy Champions of National Three North, and to Sheffield who pushed Champions Broadstreet hard to finish in a very good, close second place in National Three Midlands. Sheffield then had to show some real grit as they went on to beat Rossendale in the playoff game for their right to play at National Two North.
It has been some time since we last played Sheffield in league rugby but they will be very welcome back at Park Lane.
So another tasty league ahead. Let the games begin.
