Sedgley squeeze past Macclesfield

A spirited Macclesfield suffered another agonising defeat in National Two North as they were beaten by Sedgley Park 24-26.

Tries from Harry Blackwell, Sam Parry and Dafydd Rees did put Macc 17-14 up, with Andy Riley and Matt Riley both crossing for Sedge.

Sam Lowthian gave the visitors the lead shortly after half-time, but Macclesfield responded almost instantly as Sam Stelmaszek dived over.

However, there was to be one final twist as Lowthian scored his second from a pinpoint crossfield kick, Sedge’s fourth try of the afternoon. Ollie Glasse added the extras from wide out to put the Tigers 2 points clear at the final whistle, as Matt Bebbington’s side clinched back to back wins for the first time since September.

As for Macc, they are now 17 points adrift of safety after this loss.
